Why do they work?
Evaporative cooling: Forcing the water through the fan, a mist of micronized water droplets (ultra small) is created. These small drops of water absorb very quickly the energy (ie, heat) present in the environment and evaporate, becoming water vapor (gas). The energy (heat) is used to change the water to a gas is removed from the environment, therefore, the air is cooled.
How humidity influences:
The lower the relative humidity, the more water can be vaporized, and therefore, more heat can be removed. Evaporative cooling can be used effectively in most geographical locations. This is because when the maximum temperatures are reached during the day, it normally coincides with the humidity at its lowest point.
